Pound Hill - Little Dunmow

Little Dunmow, Essex

One of several sites around the historic village of Little Dunmow, this was a challenging development in close proximity to the Conservation Area and listed buildings. It was key that proposals responded to the historic nature of the local area whilst having a contemporary feel and that the development retained the sense of place appropriate to this historic village. Access and orientation of the buildings was a particular challenge as the new houses had to address Station Road whilst being accessed from the rear effectively leading the design towards double fronted houses. Having carried out a detailed character study of the existing village and buildings, we developed a series of house types with innovative plans, to address the particular challenges of this site. Working with the expert planning team at GL Hearn, the scheme gained panning consent in December 2019 and has since been built.
